Classical Architecture Quiz


Came across this photo looking for information on the Chicago El. For 2 points and digital photo of your favorite Chicago Church, indentify this photo.

Clues
1) If it sort of looks like a Church, well... Many Cathedrals were used for the same function as this facility.

2) The building is closely associated with, but not located in Chicago.

3) The buiding is named after a major builder in Chicago and London.

Yerkes Observatory, of the U. of Chicago.

I have photos of an observatory in California, about a century old, that was done in the Spanish Mission syle.

I don't know where Yerkes is or who its namesake was. I guess that it is in either Illinois or Wisconsin.

Yerkes is in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, and is operated by the University of Chicago.
