New Book on Lutyens Published

Just picked this up at Prairie Avenue books, by the Driehaus winner Allan Greenberg. A bit small format, but important information about one of the most influential architects of the last 150 years. He had some Burnham influences, was a grand designer, made New Delhi look imperial, gave more than a nod to Frank Lloyd Wright and Louis Sullivan and made a great deal of stylistic growth (perhaps too much) in his career. Buy it at PA Books.

The unfinished Liverpool Cathedral is one of the missing masterpieces in Architectural History. How would that look in the vacant lot across from Holy Name Cathedral?

glad to hear about this. I've just ordered it from Amazon.

well, the book arrived. A bit disappointing. The text is at about 7 pt size. Even a young person with good eyes would need a magnifying glass to read it. The photos are awkwardly placed and its hard to tell what they relate to...the publisher should have done a lot better. Allen Greenberg should have known better

Yes, absolutely agree. It is a real lost opportunity for seriously looking at the works of one of the great 19-20th century architects analyzed by one of the great 21st centurty architects only to be spoiled by the publisher saving on print costs.

I would gladly pay $5 more for a book that is legible.
